GUE DiversIt is often said that we know more about the surface of the moon than we do about what lies beneath the surface of the water that covers 7/10ths of the surface of the earth. It is almost certainly the unknown and mysterious that initially attracts us to venture beneath the surface.

The more we dive, the more we find ourselves becoming experts in studying the history of shipwrecks, marine biology and ecology or even cave geology, as part of our ongoing fascination for what lies beneath the surface. The demand for this type of diving is clearly demonstrated by the excellent work currently being performed by organisations such as Global Vision International, ReefCheck, SeaSearch and NAS that train “amateur” divers specifically to work on research programmes.

GUE supports divers in their quest to perform research and here in the United Kingdom, GUE divers have made links with organisations such as the Diving Diseases and Research Centre, Nautical Archaeology Society and SeaSearch. This list will grow and develop into a package of projects that will be open to all that are interested.
